In the old testament
the Hebrew word for henna
means to cover of make
atonement and represents the
blood of Christ, while hhyssop
refers to it's application.
Hysop was used to apply
blood to sacrificial offerings
as well to the doorposts and
lintels at Passover.
David wrote in Psalm 51: 7
"Cleanse me with hyssop,
and I will be clean: wash me, and
I will be whiter than snow."
He knew that hyssop
symbolized the transfer of the
blood sacrifice for the
forgiveness of sins. It ultimatley
points to Jesus Christ in whom
we are forgiven through
His sacrifice on the cross.
